How Property Tax Appeals Work in Camden

Every property in Missouri is assigned an appraised value by the county assessor. Residential property is assessed at 19% of appraised value. If your appraised value is too high, you may be overpaying on your property taxes.

Property owners can appeal informally with the county assessor, then formally through the County Board of Equalization (BOE). Evidence such as comparable sales and independent appraisals supports your case.

Appeals are free to file. Missouri reassesses property every two years (odd-numbered years). The appeal window opens when assessment notices are mailed and typically closes in mid-July.

Missouri offers a property tax credit (circuit breaker) for seniors 65+ and disabled persons with limited income, up to $1,100. Disabled veterans with 100% service-connected disability may qualify for a full exemption.
