Lemont is a village spanning Cook, DuPage, and Will counties with a population of about 17,643. Settled in 1833 along the Illinois and Michigan Canal, it became a major limestone quarrying center whose stone was used to build the Chicago Water Tower. It sits adjacent to Argonne National Laboratory.
