Batavia is a city on the Fox River in Kane County, about 35 miles west of downtown Chicago. Incorporated in 1872, it is the oldest city in Kane County. Known as 'The Windmill City' for its 19th-century windmill manufacturing heritage, Batavia has a population of about 26,700 and is served by Batavia USD 101.
