Big Rock is a small village in southwestern Kane County, about 55 miles west of downtown Chicago. Incorporated in 2001, it has a population of about 1,200 and is a rural, agricultural community served by Kaneland CUSD 302. The village has no municipal police department, relying on the Kane County Sheriff for law enforcement. Big Rock is known for its annual plowing match and tight-knit rural character.
