West Dundee is a village along the Fox River in Kane County, about 40 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. With a population of about 7,900, it is a home rule municipality with a Council-Manager form of government, known for its historic downtown, Spring Hill Mall area retail, and proximity to Randall Road commerce. Incorporated in 1887, the community traces its roots to 1835 when settlers first arrived at the Fox River crossing.
